Chemistry Classes

• Conceptual Chemistry: An introductory course,requiring basic math but no algebra
• Chemistry I: an introductory course, requiring solid algebra skills
• Applied Chemistry:An introductory course requiring solid algebra skills and an intrest in using crital thinking to solve real-world chemistry-related problems
• Advanced Placement Chemistry: An advanced course requiring a grade of A or B in ChemistryI

Grading

Homework: Homework is worth 5 to 10 and will be given daily. A quiz consisting of 1 to 2 homework problems from the previous week may be given in place of homework.

Tests and Quizzes: quizzes are worth 10 to 25 pointa and will be given at least once a month. Tests are worth up too 100 points and will be given three times each quater.

Labs: Labs are worth 10 to 30 points and will be graded on saftey, participation, and write-ups. Reports should be neatly written or typed.

Research projects:Research projects give you a chance to expand your knowledge neyond the classroom. There will be several research projects throughout the year.

Appointments

You can meet with Mr. Dubé before or after school or during most lunch hours in room h113. Do not hesitate to ask for help! It can be very hard to catch up if you fall behind.

Saftey Rules

Labs are completed weekly,because of the potential danger of any lab exercise, you will be held to the highest standards of behavior, and will be removed from the class if you pose a threat to yourself or other students.

• Follow the instructor's written and oral directions carefully and immediately
• Never preform any procedure that the instructor does not specifically direct you to do
• No playful behavior is premitted in the lab
• You must wear saftey equipment as directed at all times, een if you find it uncomfotable or unbecoming.
• No food, drinks, or loose clothing are premitted in the lab.
