Image Formats

Format Type Quantitative File Size Assessment of Quality
JPEG 345,608 bytes Quality is great and picture is very clear
GIF 707,115 bytes Quality is still pretty good.
PNG 538,769 bytes Quality is getting worse and picture looks grainy.

A compression algorithm changes an image's format to another. For example I took a picture of a chimpanzee, which had a JPEG format, and changed it to the formats above. As you change the format you see that some formats are not compatable with your picture. You may also find that the pictures quality will end up less than average. Many times you will find that your picture's size may reduce or get enlarged also.
