LEARNING
MODULE: Links
Activity: Creating Viable Links
GOALS: By the end of this lab you should:
- Gain
additional experience in including images on a validated web page
- Gain
additional experience in including lists on a validated web page
- Gain
additional experience in file transfer
- Gain
additional experience in debugging html files for validation
- Learn
how to utilize quotations and blockquotes on a
validated web page
- Learn
how to manipulate links on a validated web page: anchor tags, new windows
and links to outside pages
DIRECTIONS:
·
You will be exploring several
different Web Design constructs in the development of a "favorite
quotation" site. Visit the SAMPLE
FAVORITE QUOTATION SITE to see what your finished product might resemble.
The choice of the word "resemble" is deliberate -- use your
imagination and create a personal masterpiece.
·
Choose a quotation for
your site. Your quotation can be motivational, humorous, instructive, etc.
- Make
certain your finished site has the following components:
- The
HTML Quote and Blockquote constructs (both
<q> and <blockquote> tags)
- At
least one image
- At
least one list
- At
least one example of EACH of the following three types of links:
- A link
to a page located somewhere on the web besides the HTA server
- A fragment tag link to a specific place on a web page that you
authored. Hint (See
Powerpoint slides entry for Lists, Destination
Anchors and New Windows)
- A link
to a second page hosted on the web server that you authored. This link
should cause a new window to be displayed. Hint (See Powerpoint slides entry for Target
Attribute in XHTML)
- Develop
this lab in stages. Satisfy one requirement; debug it until it passes
validation, and then go on to the next requirement. Review the assessment
rubric to insure you have met all lab requirements.
- Post
all validated pages and accompanying files to your web space inside the
n241 folder in a folder named listless and test your entire site in both
IE and Mozilla.
- Once
your site is validated and has been tested, review the assessment rubric
one final time to insure you will receive all possible lab points.
- Update
your class index file to include a new and active link to this lab titled
Listless Links.
WOW -- look at you, Grasshopper!!! You are becoming a Zen
Master, too!
