What were the most important things I learned?

There were many things that I learned from 20 things reading but these to me were the most important.

Important vocabulary terms

HTML
A.K.A Hypertext Markup Language. The programming language that tells websites how to structure and present content on a web page.
CSS
A.K.A Cascading Style Sheets. Defines the layout and style of a webpage.
Plug-ins
An additional piece of software that specializes in processing particular types of content.
Plishing
A.K.A Catfishing When someone pretends to be someone in order to gain personal information.

  2. How to better defend myself against viruses.
  3. How and why the web has changed in history.
  4. How to tell if your browser is undated and how to update it.

DNS - Like a "phone book" of the Web. DNS translates a URL into the right IP address to contact.

Extended Validation Certificate - allows you to determine the name of the organization that runs the web site.

IP address - A group of number that can be traced to your address.
