What is the Internet?

To some of us, the Internet is where we stay in touch with friends and stay well connected with others. To others, the Internet can mean their local broadband providers, or fiber-optic cables that carry data back and forth across the country.

The practice of using a network of multiple remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and process your data, rather than using a personal computer.

Definitions

Packets: the chunks of data your messages are broken up into so they can be sent more efficiently.
Bandwith: the amount of data that your internet connection can handle per second.
Host: Where your website resides; each host name is specific to a single page and can't be duplicated.
Synchronization: Saving your settings online in the cloud so they can be applied to any computer you use and aren't lost if your computer is destroyed.
Path: Sends you to a specific page on a website, Like jumping ahead to the specific spot you need to be.
