Fractions, what are they, how do they work, and what are they for?
Well, there are two parts of a fraction, a numerator and a denominator
Numerator- the numerator is on top
Denominator- the denominator is on bottom.
Say you have a pizza cut up in 4 slices, you eat 2 or those four pieces,
that leaves you with
2/4 a pizza, or half of the pizza.
So remember, the top is how many pieces you have, and the
bottom is how big of a pizza you have.
Say you have 2/4 a pizza and your friend gives you their entire pizza,
you would have 1 whole pizza, plus the 2/4 you already have,
this is what we call a compound fraction, this would be written as 1 and 2/4 or 1 2/4 a pizza.
